FAQs

How much is it to join the Society?

Our membership fees are listed on the Join Us page, including a Gift Aid option if you are a UK taxpayer.

What kind of voluntary work is available?

There is a very wide range of volunteer work available at every level of the Society and for as many hours as you want to give. See more details on our I Want To Volunteer page and then contact us to arrange an interview.

How do I contact somebody in a senior position?

If you need to speak to someone in authority, either to discuss Society business or to make a complaint then please contact our Chairman via the Fleur de Lis Heritage Centre or by email via the Contact Us page.

How do I make a financial donation?

We welcome all financial contributions to our work and any generosity will help. To progress this, contact our Vice Chairman.

How do I donate material to the collections or archives?

We collect any material that relates to Faversham and the surrounding Parishes and, if your donation is in good condition and not duplicated in the existing collections, we will consider adding it to our collections. You can telephone the Heritage Centre and speak to one of the Curators in the first instance or write to the Senior Curator at the Heritage Centre address with details of your donation. If advised to bring material to the Heritage Centre, please bring any information associated with the objects too – it’s origin and history, ownership, known value, etc. Details will be recorded on our Entry Forms at the museum Reception desk and a receipt given whilst we consider how best to deal with the material.

I wish to make a Bequest to the Society. Who should I speak to?

Bequests to the Society are welcome and a thoughtful way of contributing to the preservation of Faversham’s unique character. To progress this, contact our Vice Chairman.

I’m researching my family history – can you help?

The Society has a wide range of resources available to help you in your research, both original documents and secondary evidence collated by experts; our range of Faversham Papers alone is a unique resource for local research. Contact the Heritage Centre for further details and help.

Do you have maps and photographs showing Faversham’s past layout and buildings?

We certainly do! The Society continues to build an archive of historical photographs and slides as well as a growing Map & Plans collection. Contact the Curators at the Heritage Centre for more details and an appointment to view material.

Can I buy copies of photographs, maps, etc?

Yes we can provide copies of material in our ownership and charge you a modest price for reproduction. Your subsequent use of such material will be restricted by agreement. Contact us for further information.
