In support of its mission and activities, the Society runs two bookshops which provide additional historical information and earn income for the Society’s work.
Found to the rear of the Visitor Information Centre in 10-11 Preston Street, this collection of books relating to the local area and the wider aspects of our County must be one of the most comprehensive in Kent. You can find books on Kent and Faversham’s heritage, the history of explosives, the history of brewing and local hop farms, railways and trams, sailing barges, reproductions of old maps, and much more! If you want to learn more about the history of the area or are just looking for a special gift, then we’re well worth a visit.
The Society's Second-hand Bookshop, located at 1a Gatefield Lane, sells donated books on every topic! Run by volunteers, with proceeds supporting the work of the Society, the shop is open on: Monday to Saturday - 10:00am to 3:30pm; Sunday - Closed.
If you have any books in reasonable condition which you no longer wish to keep then drop them off in Gatefield Lane. And if you wish to give a few hours of your time to help staff the shop then just click on I want to volunteer and get in touch.
