Four years ago the Society created an Environment Committee. It has advised the Board on a range of issues and assisted it in organising members and guests meetings and campaigning where necessary. We have organised several public meetings, jointly with the St Mary of Charity our parish church, about major planning issues affecting the future of Faversham. We worked with the Faversham Future Forum to develop design guidelines for developments in Faversham.
With other local groups and working with the Planning Committee, we have campaigned against the Cleve Hill Solar Power Station and supported the Uproare campaign against the proposal from East Kent Recycling for further development at Oare.
We have held several members and guests meetings on traffic congestion and the air quality issues which arise from it.
