Description
It was in 1970 that John Cadman and Arthur Percival first had the idea that visitors as well as locals would like to find out more about the history of Faversham. They then set about writing the History Trails, three interesting and enjoyable walks around the town which proved to be best sellers. Changes happen all the time, and the trails were revised and updated in 1978 and again in 1997, as they were still very popular and in demand.
In 2022, to mark the 60th anniversary of the Faversham Society, Antony Millett, the Chief Guide, agreed to revise the trails again. He has left the original work as it was, because he did not want to lose the flavour of John and Arthur’s writing as it clearly showed how much they loved the town’s history and architecture. As you read through this latest revision, Antony has provided a comprehensive update of the position as at early 2022.
Antony comments that, although it perhaps should be added that they pulled no punches if they didn’t like something, the original authors should be very proud that their trails have definitely stood the test of time.
