Continued use of existing retail unit within Class E(a) along with refurbishment works including infilling of south west building corner to create a new glazed shopfront and store entrance, removal of canopy on southern elevation, reconfiguration of car park including resurfacing, hard and soft landscaping, new trolley corrals and cycle parking, and associated works.

The Society wishes to support Swale's Conservation Officer in his view that the proposals are detrimental to the character of the Conservation Area. The damaging effect on the Conservation Area setting of what would otherwise be the serious contextually out-of-character architectural scale and the bulk of the building, especially in respect of views from West Street and the site car park, is substantially modified, and greatly visually improved, by the extant relatively small scale open arcades and public entrance door arrangements to front and side. It is these architectural scale-reducing devices that it is proposed to alter and remove, in the process fully revealing the visually unsympathetic bulk of the building to view from within a key street in the Conservation Area and thereby very significantly damaging  Conservation Area Character  

The Society wishes to see the Creekside footpath running Flood Land to North Lane maintained. (Condition (v) SW/91/0187) This is an important public asset providing access to the creekside. 

The permeable block paving should be retained

The public footpath along the creekside provides access to Faversham Creek and provides views of  Davington which are important to the Neighbourhood Plan's vision for creek regeneration."
